Silent Sounds - a group of work exploring the theme of silence, sound and
music

With this latest body of work, Tina Vlassopulos attempts to create work that conveys the illusion of sound, intertwining the transient qualities of the aural with the silence and permanence of the material. It is an intriguing and amusing notion as it contradicts the idea of sound as ephemeral, time-based and fluid and reduces the process of listening to a visual idea of what can be heard. At the same time the title given to each piece will influence its perception and give an invisible link to its concept.
The pots are made with an eye to the possibility of function, but this is balanced by a sculptural context to the forms and the concept of container carries only an aesthetic and symbolic value.
