Greg Williams

At the age of nineteen Greg threw himself in at the deep end as a reportage photographer, smuggling himself into Burma to cover the war. After winning Ilford Film's The Young Photographer of the Year Award he spent the following seven years working for many of the world's best magazines, pursuing a variety of news stories and in-depth features. These included the wars in Chechnya and Sierra Leone and an eight-month documentation of a woman suffering and eventually dying from CJD.

Over the last five years Greg has travelled the natural world along side artists Olly & Suzi as an integral part of their team, producing art photographs that document their remarkable interactions with nature. An exhibition of their work will run until May 2002 at the Natural History Museum in London. Greg's ten metre square photo "Shark Bite" presently hangs on the exterior of the museum. A book of Olly & Suzi's work, incorporating Greg's photographs, is due to be published in 2002.

In 1997 Greg embarked on a three-year project documenting the film industry in the UK. Backed by the British Film Commission and The Sunday Times Magazine he managed to gain unprecedented access to over forty feature films. His book, "Greg Williams On Set" was published in October 2000 by Vision On and Growbag. To date images from the book have been exhibited at The Proud Gallery and The National Film Theatre in London, The Louvre in Paris and the Fotografie Forum International in Frankfurt. Greg continues to gain exclusive access to celebrities at work and play, creating intimate and relaxed portraits.

Greg's work features regularly in magazines including The Sunday Times, Observer Life, The Telegraph Magazine, Esquire, Paris Match, Stern, Talk, In Style, Time, and Vanity Fair.
